Re: Parking at Lodge Drive

Janet, Paul did contact her again quite a few times, and so did the Parish Council, but when you know you are banging your head against a brick wall, in the end you give up! No-one gets anywhere with the Lythgoe family. Also, a young man got a ticket last night. He came back to Don Luigi's to tell R...

Re: Parking at Lodge Drive

The Parish Council have also tried to reason with the owner. When Paul Campbell was Chairman a few years ago, he met with Mrs Lythgoe and made some very good suggestions. He is still waiting for her to get back to him! In other words, all they are interested in is making money, and to Hell with the ...

Pack Horse

Last night we went to the Pack for a Valentine's meal, six of us altogether. I can say that the food was absolutely delicious, better than any of the other local restaurants we regularly visit. It was such a shame that having been preparing for the night, they had a lot of cancellations. I know that...

Re: Glebeland/Little London

Thank you, Southworth. The flat-roofed bungalow you mention sounds like the one my husband lived in, from about 1956 until the family moved to a prefab in Thompson Avenue.

Re: Telephone problems

Ours was off for a short time on Friday. Then I discovered that my mobile was dead - I had forgotten to charge it!

Re: Glebeland/Little London

If you think about the white farmhouse on the corner of Wigshaw and Jackson, then go just past there, that is where Culcheth Labs were. Just in the corner there was a brick bungalow. My husband lived there when he was very young, maybe seven. The family was moved to a prefab on Thompson avenue - num...

Re: Parking at Lodge Drive

Jaimo, are you a member of the Lythgoe family? That post is a disgrace! People in Culcheth, on the whole, park responsibly. I spoke to a lady only today who was bullied into paying £175 in the end, as she was threatened with a court appearance. She had parked for a few minutes whilst giving her elde...

Re: Local painter/decorator wanted

CRS Decorating Services. Craig lives in Pendle Gardens. He made a wonderful job of our guest room - papering, emulsion and gloss, I know a lot of people who have used him.

Re: New Idea for shop in CPS?

Sorry, Local Lass, I misunderstood. All the larger units are now taken, and I would think you need quite a lot of room for prams and cots, to give a good selection. I think that most people think of Mothercare and Mamas and Papas, so I don't know if it would take off. A lot of money invested if it d...

Re: New Idea for shop in CPS?

Local Lass - there is already a shop for baby clothes and accessories, near the hairdressers. I have had some beautiful outfits for my Great-grandson. Reasonable prices, too.

Re: New Idea for shop in CPS?

Sorry! By "shed" I mean the large warehouse-type businesses - B&Q, and the ones on Winwick Road. I saw a new shop in CPS mall this morning - Christmas Hampers, so maybe he is just there for a short time. I have also been told that there are two shops closing soon. If you do decide to s...

Re: New Idea for shop in CPS?

I had a shop there for many years. It was OK for a while, but then all the "sheds" started to open, and people took it for granted (wrongly) that they would be cheaper. Eventually, I had to close. Now, 15 years later, people still tell me that they miss my shop. Why, then, did they not use...

Re: Hurrah! Another restaurant?

All pre-booked had not been contacted - last night I saw a friend outside Cibo, trying to find someone to speak to, as there was a large party expecting a meal there. She couldn't believe that it was closed!
