Culcheth is a very large village in the north east of Warrington, it is approximately 6.5 miles (10.4km) from the town centre. The village itself has a high school and sixth-form as well as several primary schools, the village has a library, supermarket, and two shopping areas. It is primarily residential and borders a park known as Culcheth Linear Park. This makes Culcheth one of the most sought after residential locations in north west of England.
Culcheth has often been described as a dormitory settlement for the cities of Manchester and Liverpool and the towns of Warrington and Leigh. Its close proximity to the motorway network also makes the village perfect for those commuting further a field. The basic layout of Culcheth has not changed much during the last two centuries. The roads and tracks which were shown on an enclosure map dated 1751 are still followed exactly by the main roads in the village today.
